Dear Beautiful Daughters of Mary,

This week the Gospel Reflection was presented by our Parochial Vicar, Fr. Daniel Aloo Owuor, FMH. It is always a gift for us to be with Fr. Daniel. This is especially true as we ponder the challenging message of Jesus in this coming Sunday’s Gospel. Fr. Daniel’s words clarify Jesus’ meaning, giving us an uplifting perspective on our need to be watchful and alert, and prepared, that we may stay close to God and “grow in holiness.” As Fr. Daniel pointed out on Tuesday: “Such a growth is possible: daily talking to him in prayer, listening to him in Bible reading, spiritual reading, devotion to Our Lady by praying the rosary, by asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit every day, by recharging our spiritual batteries and getting spiritual nourishment in Holy Mass, by getting reconciled with God every day, asking for His pardon and forgiveness with a repentant heart and seeking His forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, by seeing the face of Jesus in everyone and by serving our families, our spouses and children, sacrificially sharing our gifts, talents and blessings with them.”

Fr. Daniel, we are grateful for your beautiful counsel—your great simplicity and your wisdom! We are often discouraged by the expectations and demands of the world. We may even become fearful. Yet if we recognize that our purpose in this life is (simply, deliberately, and mercifully) to plan and prepare for life eternal—we will grow in holiness. Our desire to know God’s love and to love others will be foremost in all that we do.

As always Fr. Daniel, your delightful wit and wonderful stories of family life inspire and motivate us to pray with confidence and love. We thank God for you and we love you. Please pray for us and know that you are in our prayers.

Dear beautiful Daughters of Mary, let us pray and prepare…

A final thought on Fr. Daniel’s beautiful remarks, concerns his great respect for family life—and our growth in faith. His words echo Pope Francis: “All family life is a “shepherding” in mercy.“ (from Amoris Laetitia)

Veni, Spirito Santo, la misericordia di Dio ci salva—Come Holy Spirit, it is by God’s mercy that we are saved,
